What Is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is a focused, deeper form of massage aimed at the muscles and soft tissue you use when you move. It is not a relaxation massage with a different name. The pressure is firmer, the work is targeted, and the goal is physical: release tight muscle, improve how freely you move, and help your body recover from effort.

It suits people who put their bodies under load. That includes athletes and regular gym-goers, but it also includes anyone whose daily life creates muscle tension: long hours at a desk, long hours driving, or physically demanding work.

Focused Treatment

Firmer pressure. Targeted work. A treatment built around how your body moves and recovers.

What Are the Benefits of Sports Massage?

Regular sports massage builds on itself, so the benefits grow with consistent sessions rather than a single visit. It can help to:

These are the general effects of sports massage as a practice. Your individual results depend on your body, your activity, and how regularly you come in.

What Are the Benefits of Sports Massage?

Regular sports massage builds on itself, so the benefits grow with consistent sessions rather than a single visit. It can help to:

Training for an event

More regularly through your build-up, easing off close to the event.

Exercising for general health

Roughly every few weeks to stay ahead of tension.

Managing everyday muscle tightness

Whenever the tension builds, with many clients settling into a monthly rhythm.

The effects are cumulative. One session helps on the day. A regular rhythm is where the real benefit sits. Message us and we will help you work out a sensible schedule for your body and budget.

What to Expect at Your First Session

If you have never had a sports massage, it is firmer than a relaxation massage, and that is normal. Heinrich will ask what you do, where you feel tight, and what you want from the session before starting, then work to that.

Some tenderness during deep work is common, especially on tight areas. It should never cross into sharp pain. Tell your therapist and the pressure adjusts. A little muscle soreness the next day is normal, like after a good workout, and passes quickly.

Drink water afterwards, and give hard-worked muscles a day before heavy training.
